Welcome. In front of me is a Huawei Mate 30 Pro and today I'll show you how to
0:09
add a fingerprint unlock to the device. So to get started you want to open up
0:14
settings and from settings scroll down to biometrics and password and from
0:21
here choose a fingerprint ID. Now if you don't have any other way of unlocking
0:26
the device by default it's gonna set up, well, make you put in a PIN. So you will
0:33
have to add a PIN to unlock your device which is currently here a six-digit
0:40
number but you can also change it to something else so we can change unlock
0:44
method and choose a four-digit PIN, a custom which is this one, pattern or
0:50
password which will be just a normal letters and numbers kind of thing. Now
0:55
for this purpose I'm just gonna use pattern because it's I think
1:00
better. So you draw the pattern then you redraw it once more and you tap on done
1:05
and once you tap on done and you lock the device the pattern will already be in
1:11
effect so now I have to confirm the unlock with a pattern and I cannot get
1:16
to the device without it. And from here you can go into the fingerprint ID. It
1:22
will force you to basically confirm your identity so you have to draw the
1:26
pattern that you have set and now we can add a pattern. So new, insecure finger, add
1:35
a fingerprint, just tap on OK and now you want to start tapping on the sensor
1:42
right here. So you want to get a good read of your finger from basically every
1:47
angle so you want to move it around and get all the sides of your finger so
1:52
however you press the finger on the screen it will always read it. And
2:02
should be almost done. There we go. And from here you can rename it so you have
2:08
an easier way of tracking which finger you have added and if you want to remove
2:13
it you will basically know which finger it is but I'm just gonna keep it as it is and just tap on OK. You also can set up a face recognition so we can unlock
2:23
the device without actually even using a fingerprint. So I'm just gonna tap on
2:28
cancel and now if I lock the device I can either use the thing the pattern
2:34
that we have set or the finger like so. Works fairly well. Now if you've done a
2:39
fairly good scan of your finger it should work. Majority of the times if you're having trouble with getting into the device
2:47
with your fingerprint you might want to go back there and add additional finger
2:52
but basically scan the same finger once more or just remove that one that you
2:57
have done and try to get a better scan of it to improve the unlock. But as you
3:05
can see it works for me fairly well. So that is how you add a fingerprint ID and
